Illuminated Geometry -
Tania Akehurst
Supported by
Large geometric shapes painted in neon colours, patterned with illusion art designs. Constructed with help from my father Malcolm Akehurst, Illuminated Geometry is my biggest build yet. Constructed using as many recycled materials as possible, this installation includes used PVC downpipe, 200l plastic drums, and timber. Neon colours and illusion art have provided the inspiration for this large UV illuminated installation.
Artist Bio
I convey to the viewer the same magical world that I see, full of bold colour, and patterns that create a sense of movement. My creations push and pull between illusion and the natural world.
I create artworks in acrylic, hand painted paper collage, and occasionally installations on trees. The inspiration for the subjects that I create comes from the countryside that surrounds me in Galatea, New Zealand. The inspiration for the magic in my creations comes from these 4 artists Yayoi Kusama, Gustav Klimt, David Hockney and Friedensreich Hunderwasser.
